Cooking Classes at GMC

“I really enjoyed the group cooking experience, and the recipes were brilliant and delicious!

…Thanks again for the hard efforts of all involved!”

Here at GMC, we have loved offering community cooking classes to you all, made possible by funding from Glasgow City HSCP Winter Wellbeing Fund. So much so, that we hope to continue the classes!

Cooking as a group has been so much fun, and sharing the food we have made with our community groups on Wednesdays and Thursdays, has been rewarding for all. Highlights have included a Sri Lankan root vegetable curry with a kachumber salad and coconut rice, veggie quesadilla’s and the easiest pea and mint soup ever. (Most requested recipe!) We also think we may now have the Garnethill Multicultural Centre’s very own signature dish - a delicious couscous and cherry tomato salad, spiced with ras al hanout* - healthy, easy and cheap - and loved by everyone who tried it! Thank you for the inspiration Yotam Ottolenghi!

  • Ras el hanout is a North African spice blend usually including cardamom, turmeric, nutmeg, allspice, cumin and cinnamon. It can contain up to 100 different spices!

Would you like to get involved in the next round of cooking classes?

Have you got a dish from home that you would love to share with everybody? We hope to make and share more food from around the world, suggested by you! As before, meals will be budget-friendly, vegetarian & Halal. (Ideas so far - .West African chickpea curry, Ukrainian borscht, Kitchari)
