Following the government advice/instructions regarding reducing social contact, we have decided it is time to close the GMC to meetings. This has been a difficult decision for us but in light of recent directives by the Government aimed at reducing social contact in order to slow the spread of the Covid 19 virus we feel it would be irresponsible of us to allow meetings to continue. Just to update what’s happening in the Centre at this uncertain time : the Centre is still open however, many of the groups have suspended their activity indefinitely. So far, the Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, ESOL classes, Chinese Opera, Chinese Women’s Assoc, Citizens Advice Surgery, Positive Action Surgery, Capoiera, Yoga, Jitterbug, Afterschool Clubs, Assoc of Retired Persons and Councillor’s Surgeries have all suspended activities. Garnethill Multicultural Centre has now legally completed the purchase of the building at 21 Rose Street from the Archdiocese of Glasgow. Thanks to the Scottish Land Fund we have now entered into a new period of Community Ownership. 7th Feb will go down as a significant date in our history. Garnethill Multicultural Centre is delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding from the Scottish Government’s Scottish Land Fund to purchase the building at 21 Rose Street from the Archdiocese of Glasgow. This is a great moment in the history of the Multicultural Centre. The Board of Trustees and Staff have worked hard over the last 9 months in pursuit of our goal to bring the Centre into Community Ownership.
